ABOUT US

Al-Andalus was a civilisation that irradiated a personality of its own, not only eastwards, but also westwards. Settled on a land of encounters, of cultural crossroads and fertile miscegenation, al-Andalus was forgotten after its splendour, both by Europe and by the Muslim universe, remaining as a beautiful legend, as it had never belonged to none of the two worlds.

Muslim Friendly Spain Travel was born aiming to recover and disseminate the Spanish-Muslim civilization and to meet the needs of Islamic tourism, a tourist segment constantly growing.

Andalusia can take pride of being one of the regions all over Europe having the greatest number of andalusi monuments available for visits. It is a unique destination to experience again the most brilliant moments of Muslim Art and Culture in the western world.

Muslim Friendly Spain Travel is the result of the collaboration between ASC Via Andalucía and El legado andalusí Andalusian Public Foundation.

An extensive knowledge of the Arab world with more than 20 years of experience in cultural tourism and their wide network of institutional relations make of the Andalusian Public Foundation El legado andalusí the ideal collaborator for this project.

El legado andalusí Andalusian Public Foundation is a foundation belonging to the Andalusian Regional Government, having as its main objective to enhance and retrieve the heritage of al-Andalus through the artistic-cultural expressions of this civilization, as well as the social and historical relations with the Arab world and the Mediterranean countries.

The Tourist-Cultural Routes implemented by El legado andalusí include more than 200 towns all over Andalusia and were declared “European Cultural Itinerary” in 1997 together with the Route to Santiago, being the only itinerary of this category in Spain. In 2004 the Routes were also declared “Major European Cultural Itinerary” by the European Council. This recognition supposed and supposes today an important backup to the labour of dissemination of the cultural heritage developed by the Foundation.
